NAVARRE, THE LANDSCAPE OF THE CINEMA

It is known that Navarre has a wide variety of habitats within the whole province. Thanks to the Cantabrian sea, the Pyrenees and the different rivers that come from France we have this marvelous land, with a huge variety of fauna and flora. That's why some of the most beautiful and astonishing landscapes of Spain are located here, in Navarre, and they are usually chosen for films. Has anyone seen "Ocho Apellidos Vascos"? Or "007:The World is not enough"?, or even "Game of Thrones"? Well, in this post we are going to see some of Navarre's famous landscapes.

Ocho Apellidos Vascos is seted up in Leitza, a small village of Gorriztaran valley, in the north of Navarre. This village is the perfect example of a typical Basque town, with "baserris", pasture and the church at the top of the village. This lovely town is where Amaia, one of the protagonists of the film, lives, and where most of all action happens. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you can check the trailer here.

007: The World is not enough is the 19th film of this series of films of the famous English secret agent. This film was set in Kazakhstan, and the Bardenas Reales turned out to be the best place to fit in a bunker for a few days. Later it would be blown up by a fictitious nuclear bomb. Watch the trailer here.

This location was also chosen in Game of Thrones to be the land of the Dothraki, the fierce people lead by Daenerys Targaryen. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is another attractive place that appears in GoT. It's located in the province of Guipuzkoa, but is worth mention it. If you are interested in the serie click on this link and you'll be redirected to HBO's hub, which is the platform who owns Game of Thrones. However, you can always find another way to see it.
